China Production → Quality Control → Documentation → Global Delivery
AZ31B is a widely used wrought magnesium alloy in the Mg–Al–Zn family, valued for its low density, good specific strength, machinability, and suitability for a wide range of lightweight industrial applications.
Its combination of low weight and practical mechanical performance makes AZ31B a common choice for lightweight structural parts, housings, brackets, transportation components, electronic equipment, and other applications where weight reduction is an important design consideration.
Aikerly supplies AZ31B produced through qualified manufacturing partners in China for domestic and international industrial applications.
Production typically includes melting and alloying, casting, wrought processing, heat treatment or conditioning where applicable, and final inspection. Process parameters are controlled according to the applicable material specification and product form.
Raw Material & Alloy Composition
Magnesium and alloying elements are controlled to achieve the specified AZ31B chemical composition.
Melting & Casting
Melting and casting parameters are controlled to obtain consistent alloy composition and ingot quality.
Wrought Processing
Rolling, extrusion, forging, or other forming processes are selected according to the required product form and dimensions.
Final Inspection
Chemical composition, mechanical properties, dimensions, surface condition, and other specified requirements can be inspected according to the applicable standard and purchase specification.
Aikerly coordinates material requirements, manufacturing, inspection documentation, and international delivery according to the project.
The following technical data are provided based on applicable Chinese standards and product specifications for AZ31B.
Actual requirements may vary depending on product form, dimensions, temper, processing condition, and applicable standard. For production orders, the governing specification and agreed inspection requirements should be confirmed before manufacturing.

3. Material Forms, Processing & Technical Specifications
Aikerly provides a comprehensive ecosystem for AZ31B implementation, ensuring that the material is not only delivered in the correct form but also processed under optimal engineering conditions.
Beyond our signature High-Density Round Ingots (Billets), we offer a full range of standardized and customized material forms:
Extrusions: Hot-extruded rods and customized profiles (precision-engineered).
Flat Products: Hot-rolled/Cold-rolled thin plates and strips.
Consumables: High-purity welding wires and electrodes.
Specialty Forms: Alloy powders, spherical particles, and complex forgings.
Applications: Specifically optimized for medium-load structural components and complex-shaped die forgings.
While AZ31B offers exceptional machinability, its high-speed processing requires strict adherence to magnesium-specific safety standards:
Verdict: Excellent chip formation and surface finish.
Risk Mitigation: To prevent the combustion of fine magnesium powder, continuous use of compatible cutting fluids and high-volume ventilation is mandatory.
Operator Safety: Mechanics must utilize spark-resistant tools and appropriate PPE, maintaining active monitoring of chip accumulation.
Forming: Optimal plastic deformation is achieved via preheating to approximately 260°C (500°F).
Welding Integrity: Exceptional weldability via Gas Shielded Arc (GMAW/GTAW). We recommend Gas Tungsten Arc Welding for high-precision joints requiring maximum structural density.
Heat Treatment (Annealing):
Stress Relief: 149°C (300°F) for 30-60 minutes, followed by air cooling.
Full Anneal: 344°C (650°F) with slow furnace cooling.
Atmosphere Control: Furnaces must maintain a neutral or protective gas atmosphere to ensure material purity and prevent oxidation.
To extend the service life of AZ31B in aggressive environments, Aikerly supports a wide array of coating technologies:
Primary Coatings: Chromizing, Anodizing, Electroplating, and Electronic Coating (E-coat).
Advanced Protection: Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation (PEO/MAO).
Expert Verdict: We highly recommend PEO for components exposed to high-salinity or high-wear environments to ensure long-term dimensional and chemical stability.
