Mg alloy ship plates

Magnesium alloy ship plates

Magnesium alloy has excellent properties such as lightweight, high strength, and corrosion resistance, making it very suitable for use in shipbuilding. Magnesium alloy ship plates usually use two types of materials: AZ31B and AZ61A.

The composition of AZ31B magnesium alloy is: aluminum (Al) 3.0-4.0%, zinc (Zn) 0.6-1.4%, manganese (Mn) 0.2-1.0%, and magnesium (Mg) the rest. Its density is 1.78 g/cm³, tensile strength is 200 MPa, yield strength is 120 MPa, and elongation is 10%.

The composition of AZ61A magnesium alloy is: aluminum (Al) 5.8-7.2%, zinc (Zn) 0.4-1.5%, manganese (Mn) 0.15-0.50%, and magnesium (Mg) the rest. Its density is 1.79 g/cm³, tensile strength is 305 MPa, yield strength is 200 MPa, and elongation is 17%.

Both of these magnesium alloys have good corrosion resistance and low density characteristics and are widely used in the shipbuilding industry.

The specifications of magnesium alloy ship plates are:

Thickness: The thickness of magnesium alloy ship plates is usually between 0.5mm and 150mm. Different thicknesses are suitable for different types and functions of ships.

Width: Common widths of magnesium alloy ship plates include 1000mm, 1220mm, 1500mm, etc. Of course, they can also be customized according to needs.

Length: The length of magnesium alloy ship plates is usually between 2000mm and 6000mm, and the specific length can also be customized according to the requirements.

Surface treatment: Surface treatment can improve the corrosion resistance and decorative effect of magnesium alloy ship plates, such as anodizing, spraying, electrophoretic coating.
