      AZ31B wrought magnesium alloy material is mainly available in the form of sheets, profiles, and bars. The chemical composition of AZ31B and other magnesium alloys is shown in Table 1, as specified by GB/T5153-2016.

    In addition to the above-mentioned round ingots, we can also provide hot extruded rods, hot extruded profiles, hot rolled or cold rolled thin plates and strips, welding wire, electrodes, and customized products. Based on the physical and mechanical properties of AZ31B, it is suitable for products such as complex-shaped forgings, die forgings, alloy powders, alloy particles, and structural components under medium load.


Machinability

    It has good machinability, but It is combustible in powder form, and should be handled with care during processing. Cutting fluid should be used during processing, and good ventilation ensured. Mechanics should wear appropriate protective equipment and continuously monitor the operation.

Forming

Can be formed by preheating at about 260°C (500°F).

welding

Welding can be performed using metal arc welding and gas tungsten arc welding techniques.

Excellent weldability using gas shielded arc.

Annealing

Stress relief at about 149°C (300°F) for 30 to 60 minutes followed by air cooling. Full annealing can be done at about 344°C (650°F) followed by slow cooling in the furnace. Magnesium alloys should maintain a neutral atmosphere in the heating furnace or pass a protective gas to prevent combustion.

Surface treatment

AZ31B can be protected with various coatings including

Chromizing, Anodizing, Electroplating, Electronic Coating, Paint, and Plasma.

Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation (PEO).
