ZK60A
Magnesium Alloy
Product Datasheet www.aikerly.com sales@aikerly.com
ZK60A is a magnesium-zinc-zirconium series magnesium alloy, and it is also one of the most widely used wrought magnesium alloys. It has high strength, good plasticity and corrosion resistance; it is suitable for extrusion, forging and rolling, and has good machinability; no Stress corrosion cracking tendency, ZK60A magnesium alloy is a heat treatable magnesium alloy, the heat treatment process is simple, and it can manufacture large forgings with complex shapes, but the welding performance is slightly poor. This alloy is generally considered for applications requiring shock and impact resistance and for highly stressed parts.
Key Machining Characteristics
Forming
ZK60A magnesium alloy can be preheated to approximately 260°C (500°F) to facilitate bending, typically achieving bend radii up to twice the material thickness under controlled conditions.
Welding
ZK60A magnesium alloy is generally welded using resistance welding. Fusion welding, however, is challenging due to the high zinc content, which may lead to hot cracking. Nevertheless, with appropriate welding materials or techniques, fusion welding can be achieved under certain conditions
Heat Treatment
ZK60A-T5 is the most commonly available condition in the market. If ZK60A-T6 is required, a custom heat treatment process may be necessary.
Thermal Processing
ZK60A magnesium alloy can be hot worked at temperatures around 260°C (500°F), though optimal processing conditions may vary depending on the specific forming method.
